KINGFISHER #2 TOTEM, 2025
This ceramic totem reflects on water, light, and refuge. Hand-built forms rise like bulrushes along a riverbank, their carved surfaces washed in layered blues. Bands of glass and glazed‑tile mosaic circle each section, catching the light like a kingfisher’s flash in flight. Perched at the top, an Azure Kingfisher watches over the meeting of land, plants and moving water. It speaks to the quiet riverside rhythms or riparian life.
My totems are created in direct response to the natural world and are intended to sit outdoors within the landscape. They celebrate place, connection with a sense of pride and belonging. Being ceramic they do prefer protected garden spaces, courtyards and balconies.
