QUIET REBELLION, 2026

I’ve drawn on the form of an ancient vessel and reimagined it for the present. Metallic bronze glaze, cobalt blue and gold lustre sit alongside the humble, tactile qualities of clay and raffia. The vessel has two faces and a small shared opening, offering two different ways of looking. One side is quiet and restrained, its smooth surface broken only by a small nest. The other is rich and expressive, with a field of cobalt blue where fine gold lines draw the eye inward toward that same delicate interior. Three finches, carrying strands of raffia, make the labour of making visible – a gentle rhythm of care.

Quiet Rebellion reflects my belief that craftsmanship is about more than skill alone. It grows from passion, patience, intention and values shaped over time. The work honours both the skilled hands that shape objects and the small, everyday efforts that quietly sustain life. By giving the vessel two contrasting faces, I invite viewers to shift perspective – to see simplicity as deliberate, ornament as meaningful. The tiny nest as the true centre of value - where value isn’t announced or amplified; it emerges through attention, perspective and the willingness to look closely.
